2041 — “Every human being is a leader: a man is the leader of his family, and a woman is the leader of her household.”
Ibn al-Sunnī recorded it in ʿAmal al-Yawm wa-l-Laylah (382), as did Abū Bakr al-Muqriʾ al-Iṣfahānī in al-Fawāʾid (13/190/1), through Aḥmad ibn ʿAmr ibn al-Sarḥ: Ibn Wahb narrated to us; ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith informed me, from Abū Yūnus, from Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it.
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission meeting Muslim’s criteria. Abū Yūnus was named Sulaym ibn Jubayr.
2042 — “Every oath sworn by anything other than Allah is associationism.”
Al-Baghawī recorded it in al-Jaʿdiyyāt (2332), as did al-Ḥākim in al-Mustadrak (1/18), through Sharīk ibn ʿAbd Allāh, from al-Ḥasan ibn ʿUbayd Allāh, from Saʿd ibn ʿUbaydah, from Ibn ʿUmar, who said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say it.” Al-Ḥākim said: “Authentic according to Muslim’s criteria,” and al-Dhahabī concurred.
I say: Sharīk has some weakness on account of his memory, and Muslim only narrated his reports as corroboration. Al-Ḥasan ibn ʿUbayd Allāh—the Nakhaʿī—was trustworthy; however, al-Baghawī substituted Jābir al-Juʿfī for him. Yet it is established through al-Ḥasan al-Nakhaʿī, for Imam Aḥmad (2/125) said: “Sulaymān ibn Ḥayyān narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan ibn ʿUbayd Allāh, through this chain, as a report traced back to the Prophet, with the wording: ‘Whoever swears by other than Allah has committed disbelief or associationism.’” Al-Tirmidhī also recorded it through this route (1/290), and said:
