Silsilat al-Ahadith al-SahihahNasir al-Din al-Albani

“that he passed by some people, who came to him and said: ‘You have come from this man bringing goodness, so perform a healing incantation for this man of ours.’ They brought him a deranged man in shackles, and he performed a healing incantation for him with the Opening Chapter of the Quran for three days, morning and evening. Whenever he finished reciting it, he gathered his saliva and then spat. It was as though the man had been released from a tether. They gave him something, and he came to the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—and told him about it. The Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—said: ‘Eat it, for by my life, if anyone has taken payment for a false healing incantation, then you have taken payment for a genuine healing incantation.’” He related it. Al-Ḥākim said: “Its chain of transmission is authentic,” and al-Dhahabī concurred.

I say: It is as they both said, if Allah wills. Its narrators are trustworthy narrators of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, apart from Khārijah ibn al-Ṣalt. In addition to al-Shaʿbī, ʿAbd al-Aʿlā ibn al-Ḥakam al-Kalbī narrated from him, and Ibn Ḥibbān listed him among the trustworthy narrators. However, Ibn Abī Khaythamah said: “When al-Shaʿbī narrates from a man and names him, he is trustworthy, and his hadith may be cited as evidence.” Al-Ḥāfiẓ mentioned this in al-Tahdhīb and endorsed it. It seems that this is why al-Dhahabī said in al-Kāshif: “Trustworthy.”

2028 — “Eat whatever your bow brings down for you.”

It has been narrated from ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAmr, Abū Thaʿlabah al-Khushanī, ʿUqbah ibn ʿĀmir, and Ḥudhayfah ibn al-Yamān.

  1. As for the hadith of Ibn ʿAmr, ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb narrates it from his father, from his grandfather, attributing it to the Prophet. It was recorded by Abū Dāwūd (2857), al-Nasāʾī (2/196), and Aḥmad (2/184), through several routes from him.

I say: This is a good chain of transmission.

  1. As for the hadith of Abū Thaʿlabah, it has three routes from him:

The first is through Yūnus ibn Sayf, who said: Abū Idrīs al-Khawlānī narrated to us; Abū Thaʿlabah al-Khushanī narrated to me:
