- ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Isḥāq narrated from Abū al-Zinād, from al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah, with the same wording, except that he said: “Better than this world and all that it contains.” It was recorded by Ibn ʿAbd al-Barr in Jāmiʿ Bayān al-ʿIlm wa-Faḍlihi (2/17).
I say: This is a good chain according to Muslim’s criterion. This Ibn Isḥāq is al-ʿĀmirī al-Qurashī, their client; he was also called ʿAbbād ibn Isḥāq.
- Al-Aʿmash narrated from Abū Ṣāliḥ, from him, in a report attributed to the Prophet, similar to the route of Hammām. It was recorded by Baḥshal in Tārīkh Wāsiṭ (p. 143).
I say: Its narrators are trustworthy. The hadith has two corroborating reports:
-
The hadith of Anas ibn Mālik, attributed to the Prophet, similar to the fourth route. It was recorded by Ibn Ḥibbān (2629) and Aḥmad (3/141). Its chain is authentic according to the criterion of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.
-
The hadith of Sahl ibn Saʿd, attributed to the Prophet, is like the hadith under discussion, but without the additional wording. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī, al-Tirmidhī, Ibn Mājah in the Book of Jihad, and Aḥmad (3/433–434 and 5/330, 337, 338, and 339), from Abū Ḥāzim al-Madanī, from him. Al-Tirmidhī said: “A good, authentic hadith.”
-
“Whoever performs the prayer in congregation for Allah’s sake for forty days, catching the opening takbīr, will be granted two immunities: immunity from the Fire and immunity from hypocrisy.”
