Al-Bazzār reported it (p. 274, Zawāʾid Ibn Ḥajar). Its narrators are trustworthy, apart from this Abū Khālid, whom I believe to be al-Dālānī; he is weak.
The hadith is also recorded by al-Bukhārī and Muslim, as well as others, on the authority of Abū Saʿīd and others, with the wording: “Do not insult my Companions …” the hadith. It mentions what occurred between Khālid and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, and it has been documented in Ẓilāl al-Jannah (988–991).
1924 — “A group from my Ummah will be swallowed by the earth. They will be sent against a man who comes to Mecca, and Allah will protect him from them and cause the earth to swallow them. Their place of destruction will be one, while their points of departure will be diverse. Among them will be one who is unwilling and comes under compulsion.”
Aḥmad reported it (6/259, 316–317, and 317), as did Abū Yaʿlā (4/1668), through ʿAlī ibn Zayd, from al-Ḥasan, from his mother, from Umm Salamah, who said: “The Messenger of Allah awoke from his sleep reciting, ‘Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is the matter with you?’ He said …” Then he recounted it.
I say: ʿAlī ibn Zayd is Ibn Judʿān, and he is weak. Yet the hadith is authentic, for it has a corroborating report from ʿĀʾishah. Immediately afterward, Aḥmad cited it through two chains from Ḥammād ibn Salamah, from Abū ʿImrān al-Jawnī, from Yūsuf ibn Saʿd, from her, from the Prophet, with similar wording. Its narrators are trustworthy and are narrators of Muslim, except for Yūsuf ibn Saʿd, who is trustworthy; thus, the chain is authentic.
ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Zubayr also corroborated him, reporting that ʿĀʾishah said: “The Messenger of Allah made a movement in his sleep, so we said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, you have done something in your sleep which you did not previously do.’ He said: ‘How astonishing! Some people from my Ummah will head for the House in pursuit of a Qurayshī man who has sought refuge at the House. Then, when they reach al-Baydāʾ, the desert plain, the earth will swallow them …’” The hadith is similar in wording, and adds:
