also found in his work (nos. 7520, 7521, 7665, and 7672) through other authentic chains, in another hadith with the wording: “My Lord, exalted is He, has promised me that He will admit seventy thousand of my Ummah into Paradise without reckoning or punishment, along with three handfuls from the handfuls of my Lord, exalted is He.” The multitude mentioned therein numbers seventy thousand; this is also reported in the hadith of Ibn ʿAbbas recorded by al-Bukhari, Muslim, and others.
1910 — “Pray in your houses, and do not abandon the voluntary prayers therein.”
Al-Daraqutni transmitted it in al-Afrad, and al-Daylami, citing him, transmitted it suspended in Musnad al-Firdaws (2/141), through Saʿid ibn Buzayʿ, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, from al-Zuhri, from Anas and Jabir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said—then he cited it.
I say: This chain consists of reliable narrators, except that Ibn Ishaq practised tadlis and narrated it using an ambiguous “from” formula. Saʿid ibn Buzayʿ is truthful, as stated in al-Jarh wa-al-Taʿdil (2/8). However, the hadith is corroborated by what Muslim (2/187), Ahmad (2/6 and 123), and others narrated from Ibn ʿUmar, attributed to the Prophet, with the wording: “Pray in your houses, and do not turn them into graves.” In al-Jamiʿ, al-Suyuti attributed it only to al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasaʾi! Al-Manawi followed him in this, without pointing out that it is also found in Muslim. Al-Bukhari narrated it with the wording: “Offer some of your prayers in your houses ...” with the remainder similar. This wording is also narrated by Muslim, Ahmad, and others. Its documentation appears in Sahih Abi Dawud (958).
