“Ḥakīm was declared weak by Abū Zurʿah, while others regarded him as trustworthy.” Through him, al-Ṭabarānī included it in al-Awsaṭ (no. 7296), as did Ibn ʿAdī (69/2), and both said: “No one narrated it from Hishām except Ḥakīm.” Ibn ʿAdī added: “It was narrated from Abū Jaʿfar al-Rāzī, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah; and it is said that Abū Jaʿfar was the kunyah of Ḥakīm ibn Nāfiʿ. Thus, the hadith ultimately comes back to having been narrated from Hishām only by Ḥakīm.”
Ibn ʿAdī and Muḥammad ibn Makhlad al-ʿAṭṭār then cited it in al-Muntaqā min Ḥadīthihi (2/2/1). From him, al-Khaṭīb narrated it in his History (10/80), as did Ibn Abī Shurayḥ al-Anṣārī in Juzʾ Baybī (169/2), through al-Manjūrī—ʿAlī ibn Muḥammad al-Ḥanẓalī—from Abū Jaʿfar al-Rāzī, through the same chain.
I say: Concerning this al-Manjūrī, al-Khalīlī said: “He is trustworthy, though he differs in some of his hadith.” Al-Dāraquṭnī declared him weak, and Abū Jaʿfar al-Rāzī had poor retention.
I say: If this al-Rāzī is someone other than Ḥakīm ibn Nāfiʿ, then he provides an unobjectionable supporting route for him; thus, taken together through the two routes, the hadith is good. And Allah knows best. It is further supported by the hadith: “For every instance of forgetfulness, there are two prostrations after one concludes with the salām.” It is recorded in Ṣaḥīḥ Abī Dāwūd (594).
1890 — “Do good throughout your lives, and seek the breezes of Allah’s mercy. Allah has breezes of His mercy which He grants to whomever He wills among His servants. Ask Allah to conceal your faults and grant you security from your fears.”
Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it in al-Kabīr (no. 720), from ʿĪsā ibn Mūsā ibn Īyās ibn al-Bukayr, from Ṣafwān ibn Sulaym, from Anas, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
