Silsilat al-Ahadith al-SahihahNasir al-Din al-Albani

Ibn Ḥibbān’s al-Thiqāt; however, the copy of it held at al-Ẓāhiriyyah comprises only the volume on the Successors and their Followers. ʿAmr ibn Mālik al-Baṣrī differed from him, saying: Al-Fuḍayl ibn Sulaymān informed us; ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Isḥāq al-Qurashī informed us from Muḥammad ibn al-Munkadir, from Anas, with the same report. Abū Yaʿlā recorded it (3/918). This ʿAmr, al-Rāsibī, is weak, as stated in al-Taqrīb.

In summary, the hadith is good in my view on account of its combined chains. Allah knows best. What is meant by “those at play” is children, as stated in a hadith from Ibn ʿAbbās recorded by al-Ṭabarānī (11906) with a good chain of transmission. Thus, this hadith is among the proofs that the children of the disbelievers are in Paradise. This is the stronger view, as we mentioned in Ẓilāl al-Jannah (1/95); refer to it.

1882 — “The orphans of Badr have preceded you; but I shall direct you to something better for you than that: after every prayer, proclaim Allah’s greatness thirty-three times, glorify Him thirty-three times, and praise Him thirty-three times, and say: ‘There is no god worthy of worship but Allah alone, who has no partner. To Him belong all dominion and praise, and He has power over all things.’”

Abū Dāwūd recorded it (nos. 2987 and 5066—Homs) through al-Faḍl ibn al-Ḥasan al-Ḍumarī, who reported that Umm al-Ḥakam or Ḍubāʿah—the daughters of al-Zubayr ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib—narrated to him from one of them, who said: “The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, acquired some captives. So my sister, Fāṭimah—the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him—and I went to him. We complained to him of our circumstances and asked him to order that we be given something from among the captives. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, then cited the preceding words.”

I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy, apart from al-Faḍl ibn al-Ḥasan al-Ḍumarī. Ibn Ḥibbān alone declared him trustworthy (1/214), but a group of trustworthy narrators transmitted from him, and he was a Successor; thus, one can confidently rely on his hadith as evidence.
