It was related by al-Tabarani in al-Awsat (8095). This ‘Asim is weak.
Al-Suyuti cited the hadith with the wording: “The angels do not accompany a travelling party carrying a small bell.” He said: “Al-Hakim related it in al-Kuna from Ibn ‘Umar.” The hadith has a corroborating report from Abu Hurayrah, attributed to the Prophet, with similar wording. It was related by Muslim (6/163), Abu Dawud (2555), Ahmad (2/263, 311, 327, 343, 392, 444, 476, and 537), al-Darimi (2/289), and the compilers of the Sunan, through Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father, from him. Ahmad also related it (2/385 and 414) through Qatadah, from Zurarah ibn Awfa, from him.
I say: Its chain of transmission is authentic according to the conditions of the two Sahih compilers. There is another corroborating report from Umm Habibah, attributed to the Prophet. It was related by Abu Dawud (2554), al-Darimi, Ahmad (6/326, 327, 426, and 427), Ibn Hibban (1491 and 1492), and al-Tabarani in al-Awsat (7185). A jaljal is a small bell hung around the necks of animals and the like.
1874 — “The wind brings punishment upon one people and mercy upon others.”
Al-Daylami (2/179) related it through al-Hakim, from al-Hasan ibn al-Husayn ibn Mansur, who said: Hamed ibn Abi Hamed al-Muqri’ narrated to us; Sufyan narrated to us, from ‘Amr ibn Dinar, from ‘Amir ibn Wathilah, from ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab, in a report attributed to the Prophet.
I say: I have not identified this Ibn Mansur.
