Abū Dāwūd, Ibn Mājah, and Aḥmad (2/18) recorded it through Zayd al-ʿAmī, from Abū al-Ṣiddīq al-Nājī, from him. Zayd al-ʿAmī is weak. However, it has another chain, in which Ayyūb reports it from Nāfiʿ, from Ibn ʿUmar, with similar wording. Al-Nasāʾī and al-Bayhaqī recorded it with an authentic chain of transmission.

1865 — “Gold and silk are permitted for the women of my community and forbidden to its men.”

Samawayh recorded it in al-Fawāʾid (35/1): Saʿīd ibn Sulaymān narrated to us; ʿAbbād narrated to us; Saʿīd ibn Abī ʿArūbah narrated to me; Thābit narrated to me from Zayd ibn Thābit ibn Zayd ibn Arqam, who said: My paternal aunt, Anīsah bint Zayd ibn Arqam, narrated to me from her father, Zayd ibn Arqam, attributing it to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace. Through this route, al-Ṭaḥāwī recorded it in Sharḥ al-Maʿānī (2/245), al-Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr (5125), and al-ʿUqaylī in al-Ḍuʿafāʾ (p. 62). He said: “This is also reported through other chains of transmission, with sound chains.”

I say: Its narrators are trustworthy, apart from Anīsah bint Zayd ibn Arqam, whom I have not been able to identify. As for Thābit ibn Zayd ibn Thābit, al-ʿUqaylī narrated from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad that he said: “I asked my father about him, and he replied: Ibn Abī ʿArūbah narrated from him, and Muʿtamir narrated to us from him. He has objectionable hadiths. I asked, ‘Do you narrate from him?’ He said, ‘Yes.’ I asked, ‘Is he weak?’ He replied, ‘I narrate from him.’” Ibn Ḥibbān said: “Error predominates in his hadiths; he is not to be relied upon as proof when he alone reports.”
