It was recorded by al-Ḥakīm al-Tirmidhī, al-Ṭabarānī, and al-Ḥākim (4/406–407). Al-Ḥākim made no comment on it, nor did al-Dhahabī.
I say: Its chain of transmission is weak. Concerning this Hūd, al-Mīzān states: “He is scarcely known; Ṭālib ibn Ḥujayr alone narrated from him.”

As for the report of ʿAlī, it is narrated by ʿĪsā ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Muḥammad ibn ʿUmar ibn ʿAlī, from his father, from his grandfather, from ʿAlī, attributing it to the Prophet with the same wording. It was recorded by Ibn ʿAdī and Abū Nuʿaym. Ibn Ḥibbān included this ʿĪsā in al-Thiqāt (The Trustworthy Narrators) and said: “There are some objectionable reports in his narrations.”

As for the report of one of the delegation of ʿAbd al-Qays, it is narrated by Yaḥyā ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-ʿAṣrī, who said: Shihāb ibn ʿAbbād narrated to us that he heard one of the delegation of ʿAbd al-Qays saying—and he attributed it to the Prophet with similar wording: “Indeed, it is the best and most beneficial of your dates for you.” It includes the account of the delegation. It was recorded by al-Bukhārī in al-Adab al-Mufrad (1198) and Aḥmad (4/206–207).
I say: Its narrators are trustworthy, apart from this al-ʿAṣrī. Al-Dhahabī said: “A Basran who is unknown.” In sum, the hadith is authentic in my view on account of all its supporting reports, since most of them are not severely weak. And Allah knows best.
1845 — “The best among you are those who are best to my family after me.”
It was recorded by al-Bazzār (p. 274, its supplementary material) and Abū Nuʿaym in Akhbār Iṣfahān (2/294)
