Through this route, al-ʿUqaylī also narrated it in al-Ḍuʿafāʾ (217, 352), saying: “The chain of transmission is not reliably preserved, though the text of the hadith is known through chains other than this one.” He further said: “Reports with varying wordings have been related concerning this, through sound chains of transmission.”
It has a supporting report from Anas, which al-Ṭabarānī narrated in al-Awsaṭ (no. 7691) through Sulaymān ibn Dāwūd al-Shādhakūnī: ʿĪsā ibn Maymūn narrated to us; Qatādah narrated to me from Anas. Al-Ṭabarānī said: “No one narrated it from Qatādah except ʿĪsā ibn Maymūn, and al-Shādhakūnī alone transmitted it.”
I say: He is accused of fabricating hadith, so his report cannot be used as corroboration. Regarding al-Faḍl ibn Ḥammād al-Azdī, al-Dhahabī said: “His status is unknown.” Abū Ḥāmid al-Shujāʿī also narrated it through his route in his Amālī, adding: “When one such as he recovers from his illness, he is like a hailstone falling from the sky in its purity and color.”
I say: This addition has a supporting report from al-Walīd ibn Muḥammad al-Muwaqqarī, from al-Zuhrī, from Anas, attributed to the Prophet: “The likeness of the sick person …” Al-Bazzār narrated it (762), as did al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ (no. 5299). However, al-Muwaqqarī is accused of fabrication.
Also supporting the hadith is what al-Bazzār narrated (no. 765) from ʿUthmān ibn Makhlad: Hushaym narrated to us, from al-Mughīrah, from Ibrāhīm, from al-Aswad, from ʿĀʾishah, attributed to the Prophet, with the wording: “Fever is every believer’s share of the Fire.” He said: “We know of no one besides ʿUthmān who narrated it from Hushaym as a Prophetic report.”
I say: This ʿUthmān is ʿUthmān ibn Makhlad al-Tammār al-Wāsiṭī, whom Ibn Abī Ḥātim mentioned
