And Muhammad ibn ‘Awn is abandoned, as stated in al-Taqrib.
The other is through ‘Isa ibn Maymun, who said: “Muhammad ibn Ka‘b narrated to us: I heard Ibn ‘Abbas…” concerning only the ruinous traits. It was recorded by Abu Nu‘aym in al-Hilyah (3/219) and by al-Harawi. This ‘Isa ibn Maymun apparently is the Medinan client of al-Qasim, and he is weak.
- As for the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, it likewise has two routes from him:
The first is through Bakr ibn Sulaym al-Sawwaf, from Abu Hazim, from al-A‘raj, from him, with wording similar to that of the hadith cited in the heading. It was recorded by al-Bayhaqi in Shu‘ab al-Iman (2/382/1).
I say: Ibn Hibban mentioned this al-Sawwaf in al-Thiqat. Abu Hatim said: “A shaykh whose hadith is to be recorded.”
I say: A narrator of this standing may be used for corroboration. And Allah knows best.
The other is through ‘Abd Allah ibn Sa‘id, from his father, from him. It was recorded by al-Harawi and Abu Musa al-Madini in al-Lata’if (83/1). This ‘Abd Allah is abandoned.
-
As for the hadith of Ibn Abi Awfa, it is narrated by Muhammad ibn ‘Awn, from Yahya ibn ‘Aqil, from him. It was recorded by al-Bazzar (no. 83). Ibn ‘Awn is abandoned, as mentioned above.
-
As for the hadith of Ibn ‘Umar, al-Haythami said in al-Majma‘ (1/91):
