As for the degrees in rank, they are feeding others, spreading the greeting of peace, and praying at night while people are asleep. As for the saving traits…” The rest of the hadith is similar in wording to the hadith cited in the heading. It was recorded by al-Bazzar (no. 80), Ibn Shahin in al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib (2/264), and al-Harawi. Both Ziyad and Za’idah are weak.
The third is through Humayd ibn al-Hakam Abu Husayn, who said: A man came to al-Hasan—while I was sitting with him—and said, “O Abu Sa‘id, what did you hear Anas say?” Al-Hasan replied: “Anas ibn Malik narrated to us that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said…” He then mentioned it with wording similar to that of the hadith cited in the heading. It was recorded by al-Dulabi in al-Kuna (1/151), al-Tabarani in al-Awsat (5584), and al-Diya’ in al-Muntaqa min Masmu‘atihi bi-Marw (137/1).
I say: Ibn Hibban said of this Humayd: “His reports are extremely rejected.”
The fourth is through Yaghanam ibn Salim, from him. It was recorded by Ibn ‘Abd al-Barr in Jami‘ Bayan al-‘Ilm (1/143).
I say: The name appears as Nu‘aym in the manuscript, but the correct reading is Yaghanam—with a yā’ dotted below, followed by a ghayn dotted above, then a nun—and he is accused of fabrication. Therefore, no corroboration may be sought through him.
- As for the hadith of Ibn ‘Abbas, it has two routes:
The first is through Muhammad ibn ‘Awn al-Khurasani, from Muhammad ibn Zayd, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, from him, concerning only the ruinous traits. It was recorded by al-Bazzar (no. 82).
