Al-Hafiz attributed it in al-Isabah to Abu Ya‘la and Ibn Mandah.
Another is the hadith of Ibn ‘Abbas, attributed to the Prophet: “We, the company of Prophets, were commanded to hasten our breaking of the fast, delay our pre-dawn meal, and place our right hands over our left hands in prayer.” It was narrated by al-Tayalisi and others, and authenticated by Ibn Hibban. I have traced it in more than one of my works; see Sahih al-Jami‘ al-Saghir and Its Supplement, no. 2282. There are other hadiths encouraging the hastening of the breaking of the fast and the delaying of the pre-dawn meal; they may be consulted in the comprehensive hadith collections.
1774 — “I was sent to the people of al-Baqi‘ to pray for them.”
Ahmad (6/92) narrated it from ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn Muhammad, from ‘Alqamah ibn Abi ‘Alqamah, from his mother, from ‘A’ishah, who said: “One night, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out, so I sent Barirah after him to see where he had gone. She said: ‘He made his way toward Baqi‘ al-Gharqad and stopped at the near end of al-Baqi‘. Then he raised his hands and departed.’ Barirah returned to me and informed me. When morning came, I asked him, saying, ‘O Messenger of Allah, where did you go last night?’ He replied,” and then mentioned it.
Malik also narrated it in al-Muwatta’ (1/242/55), and al-Nasa’i narrated it from him (1/287).
I say: This chain is acceptable as corroborative evidence, for ‘Alqamah’s mother—whose name was Marjanah—was narrated from not only by her son, but also by Bukayr ibn al-Ashajj. Al-‘Ijli said in al-Thiqat (68/2, photocopy edition of al-Maktab): “A Medinan female Successor, trustworthy.” Muhammad ibn Qays ibn Makhramah ibn al-Muttalib also corroborated her regarding the basic account of the incident, reporting it from ‘A’ishah with the same meaning.
