“upon al-Bukhari’s conditions.” Al-Dhahabi concurred with him!
I say: Al-Bukhari did not narrate from Mu‘awiyah, and Ibn Salih is weak. Al-Hanna’i said: “We know it through this route only from the hadith of Abu Salih, the scribe of al-Layth.” He then said: “The hadith is well-known from al-Miqdad.”
I say: Al-Layth corroborated him, narrating it from Mu‘awiyah ibn Salih. Ibn Battah narrated it. Thus, praise be to Allah, the hadith is authentic through this route and through Baqiyyah’s other route.
1773 — “Hasten to break the fast, and delay the pre-dawn meal.”
Al-Suyuti said in al-Jami‘ al-Kabir: “Ibn ‘Adi and al-Daylami narrated it from Anas.”
I say: I had not found its chain of transmission at the time, and it was more likely than not to be weak. Then I found it in al-Daylami (2/1/3), in whose chain is al-Mubarak ibn Suhaym, who is abandoned. Ibn ‘Adi also narrated it from him (fol. 381/1). However, it has many supporting reports by which it is strengthened. Among them is the hadith of Umm Hakim bint Wada‘, attributed to the Prophet: “Hasten the breaking of the fast, and delay the pre-dawn meal.” Al-Haythami said in al-Majma‘ (3/155): “Al-Tabarani narrated it in al-Kabir through Hubabah bint ‘Ajlan, from her mother, from Safiyyah bint Jarir. Ibn Majah narrated from these women, yet no one declared them unreliable or trustworthy.”
