ʿAlī ibn Yazīd, from ʿAdī ibn Thābit. Its narrators are reliable narrators of Muslim, apart from ʿAlī ibn Yazīd—namely, Ibn Judʿān—who is weak.
It also has a second route from al-Barāʾ, mentioned previously under the second and third routes from ʿAlī.
- Ibn ʿAbbās. ʿAmr ibn Maymūn narrated it from him as a report attributed to the Prophet, without the addition. Aḥmad (1/330–331) recorded it, as did al-Ḥākim (3/132–134), who said: “Its chain of transmission is authentic.” Al-Dhahabī concurred with him, and they were correct.
8, 9, and 10. Anas ibn Mālik, Abū Saʿīd, and Abū Hurayrah. ʿUmayrah ibn Saʿd narrated it from them, saying: “I witnessed ʿAlī, may Allah be pleased with him, on the pulpit, calling upon the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: ‘Whoever heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say on the day of Ghadīr Khumm what he said, let him testify.’ Then twelve men stood up, among them Abū Hurayrah, Abū Saʿīd, and Anas ibn Mālik, and testified that they had heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say it.” He then mentioned it.
Al-Ṭabarānī recorded it in al-Muʿjam al-Ṣaghīr (p. 33, Indian edition, no. 116, al-Rawḍ) and in al-Muʿjam al-Awsaṭ (no. 2442), through Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAmr, who said: Masʿar narrated to us from Ṭalḥah ibn Muṣarrif, from ʿUmayrah ibn Saʿd, with this report. He said: “No one narrated it from Masʿar except Ismāʿīl.”
I say: He is weak. Therefore, after attributing it to the two Muʿjams, al-Haythamī (9/108) said: “Its chain of transmission contains some weakness.”
I say: However, it is strengthened by other routes from Abū Hurayrah, Abū Saʿīd, and other Companions.
