The fifth route is likewise from Sharīk, from Abū Isḥāq, from ʿAmr Dhī Murr, with wording similar to Abū Isḥāq’s hadith—that is, from Saʿīd and Zayd—but with the addition: “Support whoever supports him, and forsake whoever forsakes him.” ʿAbd Allāh also recorded it. You have already learned Sharīk’s status. As for ʿAmr Dhī Murr, Ibn Abī Ḥātim did not mention anything concerning him (3/1/232).

The sixth route is from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Laylā, who said: “I witnessed ʿAlī, may Allah be pleased with him, in al-Raḥbah adjuring the people...” He then cited it similarly, without the addition, “Support ...” ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad recorded it (1/119) through Yazīd ibn Abī Ziyād and Simāk ibn ʿUbayd ibn al-Walīd al-ʿAbsī, from him.

I say: It is authentic when its two chains from him are taken together. Both state that those who stood were twelve; the first adds that they were veterans of Badr.

The seventh and eighth routes are from Abū Maryam and a man who was among ʿAlī’s companions, from ʿAlī, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said on the Day of Ghadīr Khumm ... He cited it without the addition, but added: “He said: The people later added: ‘Befriend whoever befriends him, and oppose whoever opposes him.’” ʿAbd Allāh recorded it (1/152) from Nuʿaym ibn Ḥakīm, who said: “Abū Maryam and a man who was among ʿAlī’s companions related to me.” This chain is acceptable for corroborative reports; Abū Maryam is unknown, as stated in al-Taqrīb.

The ninth route is from Ṭalḥah ibn Muṣarrif, who said: “I heard al-Muhājir ibn ʿUmayrah—or ʿUmayrah ibn al-Muhājir—say: ‘I heard ʿAlī, may Allah be pleased with him, adjure the people ...’” The hadith is like the report of Ibn Abī Laylā.
