from Shuraḥbīl ibn Saʿd, from Jabbār ibn Ṣakhr, who said: I heard the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, say this.
I say: Al-Ḥākim, and then al-Dhahabī, made no comment on it. Its chain is weak, containing two defects:
The first is Shuraḥbīl ibn Saʿd. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in al-Taqrīb: “Truthful, but became confused in his later years.”
I say: It is not known whether he narrated this hadith before becoming confused or afterwards.
The other is Zuhayr ibn Muḥammad, the Khurāsānī Syrian, who is weak. However, Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn Abī Yaḥyā corroborated him, narrating it from Shuraḥbīl. Ibn Abī Ḥātim and Ibn Mandah recorded it. Yet this Ibrāhīm is abandoned. Nevertheless, the hadith has many supporting reports, including the hadith: “Guard your private parts, except from your wife and those whom your right hand possesses.” It is cited in Ādāb al-Zifāf. Another is his saying, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: “Return to your garment and take it; do not walk naked.” Muslim (1/184), al-Bayhaqī, and others recorded it.
1707 — “Indeed, we do not accept anything from the polytheists.”
Al-Ḥākim recorded it (3/484–485), as did Aḥmad (3/401), from al-Layth ibn Saʿd, who said: ʿUbayd Allāh ibn al-Mughīrah narrated to me, from ʿIrāk ibn Mālik, that Ḥakīm ibn Ḥizām said:
