“Truthful.” The latter added: “He makes mistakes.”
I say: The hadith is therefore good, especially since it has supporting reports from the hadiths of ʿAmr ibn al-Jamūḥ, Saʿd ibn Abī Waqqāṣ, and Asmāʾ bint Yazīd, recorded by Abū Nuʿaym in al-Ḥilyah (1/6).
1647 — “Take a midday nap, for the devils do not take a midday nap.”
Abū Nuʿaym recorded it in al-Ṭibb (12/1, the Safarjalānī manuscript) and in Akhbār Iṣfahān (1/195, 353; 2/69), through several routes from Abū Dāwūd al-Ṭayālisī, who said: ʿImrān al-Qaṭṭān narrated to us from Qatādah, from Anas, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said this.
I say: This is a good chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy narrators of Muslim, apart from ʿImrān al-Qaṭṭān, who, as al-Ḥāfiẓ said, was truthful but made mistakes. It has another route, recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Awsaṭ (no. 2725, 1/3/1), from Kathīr ibn Marwān, from Yazīd Abū Khālid al-Dālānī, from Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah, from Anas, with the same wording. He said: “No one narrated it from Abū Khālid except Kathīr ibn Marwān.”
I say: Al-Ḥāfiẓ said in al-Fatḥ (11/58): “He is abandoned.”
I say: His shaykh, al-Dālānī, is weak. However, he has been corroborated: Abū Nuʿaym recorded it in al-Ṭibb (12/1–2), and al-Khaṭīb in al-Muwaḍḍiḥ (2/81–82), through ʿAbbād ibn Kathīr, from Sayyār al-Wāsiṭī, from Isḥāq ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Abī Ṭalḥah, with the same wording. At its beginning, he added: “Do not enter the morning.”
