I say: This is therefore a strong corroborating chain: Muḥammad ibn Juḥādah was trustworthy, and both Shaykhs relied upon him in their two Ṣaḥīḥs. However, the narrator from him, al-Ḥasan ibn Abī Jaʿfar al-Juʿfī, was weak in hadith. Yet Aḥmad also narrated it (5 / 391) by way of Ḥammād ibn Salamah, from ʿUthmān al-Battī, from Nuʿaym ibn Abī Hind, with similar wording.
This is an authentic chain of transmission. Al-Mundhirī said: “There is no problem with it.” What is correct is what I have stated, as I explained in my annotation on it (2 / 61–62). The first part of it has a supporting report from Jābir, attributed to the Prophet. Ibn ʿAsākir narrated it (15 / 81 / 2). The remainder likewise has a supporting report from ʿAlī, attributed to the Prophet, recorded by al-Khaṭīb in al-Muwaḍḍiḥ (1 / 46).

Abū Nuʿaym narrated it in Akhbār Iṣfahān (1 / 231), as did al-Wāḥidī (58 / 1) and al-Daylamī (1 / 2 / 341), through Jaʿfar ibn Abī al-Mughīrah, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, regarding the verse: “Indeed, Allah’s devoted servants will have no fear, nor will they grieve.” He said: “They are those ...”
Ibn al-Mubārak also narrated it in al-Zuhd (no. 217): Mālik ibn Mighwal and Misʿar ibn Kidām narrated to us from Abū Usayd—and Ibn Ḥuwayyah said: from Abū Anas, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr—who said: Then he cited it.
Ibn Ṣāʿid narrated it with a connected chain in the supplementary material to al-Zuhd (218), saying: Kathīr ibn Shihāb ibn ʿĀṣim al-Qazwīnī narrated to us; he said: Muḥammad ibn Saʿīd ibn Sābiq narrated to us; he said: Yaʿqūb al-Ashʿarī—that is, al-Qummī—narrated to us from Jaʿfar ibn Abī al-Mughīrah, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ʿAbbās, with the same wording. Concerning Jaʿfar ibn Abī al-Mughīrah, al-Dhahabī and al-ʿAsqalānī said:
