Al-Ṭabarānī also recorded (8910), from Abū al-Aḥwaṣ, that a man came to ʿAbd Allāh and said: “My brother is ill and has a stomach complaint, and wine has been prescribed for him. Should I give it to him to drink?” ʿAbd Allāh replied: “Glory be to Allah! Allah has not placed a cure in an abomination. Cure lies only in two things: honey, which is a healing for people, and the Quran, which is a healing for what is in the breasts.”
I say: Its chain of transmission is also authentic.
1634 — “Allah has one hundred mercies. He apportioned one mercy among the people of this world, which encompasses them until their appointed terms, and He has reserved ninety-nine mercies for His righteous servants. Allah will then join the mercy He apportioned among the people of this world to the ninety-nine, thereby completing one hundred mercies for His righteous servants on the Day of Resurrection.”
Aḥmad recorded it (2/514): Rūḥ and Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, saying: ʿAwf narrated to us, from al-Ḥasan, who said: It reached me that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said—and he mentioned something similar to it.
Muḥammad said in his narration: Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn and Khilās both related this hadith to me, from Abū Hurayrah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, in similar words. Rūḥ narrated to us: ʿAwf narrated to us, from Khilās ibn ʿAmr, from Abū Hurayrah, in similar words. Rūḥ narrated to us: ʿAwf narrated to us, from Muḥammad, from Abū Hurayrah, in similar words.
I say: These are authentic connected chains from Abū Hurayrah, apart from the first, which is a mursal narration with an authentic chain of transmission. Al-Ḥākim also recorded it (4/248), through the route of Bakkār ibn Muḥammad al-Sīrīnī, from ʿAwf ibn Abī Jamīlah, from Muḥammad ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah, with it; the wording is his. He said: “It is authentic according to the criteria of al-Bukhārī and Muslim.” Al-Dhahabī rebutted him, saying: “I say: Bakkār’s hadith are rejected. This was stated by Abū Zurʿah.”
