Al-Mundhiri also stated in al-Targhib (1/45): “Al-Tabarani narrated it, and its chain is good.”
I say: Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman al-Qushayri also corroborated him, narrating it from Humayd. It was recorded by Ibn Abi ‘Asim in al-Sunnah (no. 37, in my edition), Ibn ‘Adi in al-Kamil (fol. 311/1), and Ibn ‘Abd al-Hadi (10/2), through Baqiyyah ibn al-Walid, who said: Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman narrated to me from Humayd, with the same report. However, this al-Qushayri is very weak, so reliance is upon the preceding chain.
1621 — “No one ever begins the talbiyah, nor does anyone ever pronounce the takbir, except that he is given glad tidings.” It was asked, “Of Paradise?” He replied, “Yes.”
It was narrated by al-Tabarani in al-Awsat (no. 7943, in my copy) and Abu al-Hasan al-Harbi in al-Amali (245/2), from ‘Abd al-A‘la ibn Hammad al-Narsi, who said: Mu‘tamir ibn Sulayman narrated to us; Zayd ibn ‘Umar ibn ‘Asim narrated to us, from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, as a Prophetic report. Al-Tabarani said: “No one narrated it from Zayd except Mu‘tamir.”
I say: It says in al-Mizan: “He narrated from Suhayl ibn Abi Salih a rejected report.”
I say: Perhaps he meant this report. However, the fact that it has come by another route removes its status as rejected. This is what al-Tabarani also recorded, saying: Muhammad ibn ‘Uthman ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us; al-Hasan ibn ‘Ali al-Hulwani narrated to us; Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us; Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from Ayyub, from ‘Ubayd Allah ibn ‘Umar, from Sumayy, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurayrah, with similar wording.
