The first is narrated by way of ʿAṭiyyah al-ʿAwfī, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, directly attributed to the Prophet, who said:
“Indeed, I have a pool whose length is the distance between the Kaʿbah and Jerusalem. It is whiter than milk, and its vessels are as numerous as the stars. Every Prophet will call his community, and every Prophet will have a pool. Vast crowds will come to some of them; a small band will come to some; a group will come to some; two men will come to some; one man will come to some; and no one will come to some. It will then be said: ‘You have conveyed the message.’ Yet I shall have the greatest number of followers among the Prophets on the Day of Resurrection.”
Abū Nuʿaym narrated it in Akhbār Aṣbahān (1/110), as did Ibn Abī al-Dunyā in Kitāb al-Ahwāl, as cited in Ibn Kathīr (1/363 and 369), and Ibn Mājah (2/279) in abbreviated form. ʿAṭiyyah is weak.
The second is from Muḥṣin ibn ʿUqbah al-Yamānī, from al-Zubayr ibn Shubayt—thus stated—from Abū ʿUthmān, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said:
“The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was asked: ‘Is there water in the standing before the Lord of the worlds?’ He replied: ‘Yes, by Him in Whose Hand is my soul, there will indeed be water there. Allah’s close allies will come to the pools of the Prophets, and Allah will send seventy thousand angels, holding staffs of fire in their hands, to drive the disbelievers away from the pools of the Prophets.’”
Ibn Abī al-Dunyā narrated it. Ibn Kathīr said (1/370): “This is a singular hadith through this route. It is not found in any of the six books.” I say: I have not found any biographical entry for al-Zubayr or Muḥṣin.
The third: Ibn Abī al-Dunyā said: Khālid ibn Khidāsh narrated to us—the original reads: Khirāsh—Ḥazm ibn Abī Ḥazm narrated to us: I heard al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī say that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said:
“When you no longer find me, I will be awaiting you at the pool. Every Prophet has a pool, and he will stand at his pool with a staff in his hand, calling those of his community whom he recognizes. Indeed, they will vie in boasting over which of them has the most followers. By Him in Whose Hand is my soul, I hope that I shall have the most followers among them.”
