Ibn Ḥibbān recorded it in his Ṣaḥīḥ (2127—Mawārid).
I say: Its chain of transmission is authentic.
1572 — “I am Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh; I am Allah’s servant and His Messenger. I do not wish for you to elevate me above the rank in which Allah has placed me.”
Al-Bukhārī recorded it in al-Tārīkh al-Ṣaghīr (7): Mūsā ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us from Ḥammād, who narrated to us from Thābit and Ḥumayd, from Anas, who attributed it to the Prophet, with this wording. Aḥmad also recorded it (3/153 and 241) through two other routes from Ḥammād ibn Salamah, with the same wording. At its beginning, he added: “A man said: ‘O Muḥammad, our master and the son of our master; the best of us and the son of the best of us!’ Thereupon the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: ‘O people, be mindful of Allah, and do not let Satan lead you astray. I am Muḥammad …’”
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission according to the criteria of Muslim.
1573 — “Soak it—that is, the raisins—for your midday meal, and drink it with your evening meal; and soak it for your evening meal, and drink it with your midday meal. Soak it in worn waterskins, but do not soak it in large earthen jars, for if it remains beyond its proper time, it turns to vinegar.”
Abū Dāwūd (3710), al-Nasāʾī (2/336), and Aḥmad (4/232) recorded it through several routes from Yaḥyā ibn Abī ʿAmr al-Saybānī—with an s, not sh; all of their editions print it with sh, which is a typographical error—from ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Daylamī, from his father Fayrūz, who said: “We came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, you already know who we are and where …’”
