110 – “Sayhān, Jayhān, the Euphrates and the Nile are all rivers of Paradise.”
Muslim narrated it (8/149), as did Aḥmad (2/289, 440), Abū Bakr al-Abharī in al-Fawāʾid al-Muntaqā (143/1), and al-Khaṭīb (1/54–55), through the chain of Ḥafṣ ibn ʿĀṣim from Abū Hurayrah, in a marfūʿ report (attributed directly to the Prophet ﷺ).
It has another chain whose wording is: “Four rivers flowed forth from Paradise: the Euphrates, the Nile, Sayhān and Jayhān.”
111 – “Four rivers flowed forth from Paradise: the Euphrates, the Nile, Sayhān and Jayhān.”
This was transmitted by Aḥmad (2/261), Abū Yaʿlā in his Musnad (4/1416, Islāmī Office facsimile), and al-Khaṭīb in his Tārīkh (1/44; 8/185) through Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr from Abū Salamah, in a marfūʿ report. This chain of transmission is good.
A third route is recorded by al-Khaṭīb (1/54) via Idrīs al-Awdī from his father in an abridged marfūʿ form: “Two rivers are from Paradise—the Nile and the Euphrates.”
