Ibn Jarīr recorded it in his Tafsīr (5/399): “Yūnus narrated to me, saying: Ibn Wahb informed us; he said: Ibn Zayd said the same.”

I comment: Every transmitter in this chain is reliable, yet I suspect that the chain is interrupted (munqaṭiʿ). Ibn Zayd here is ʿUmar ibn Muḥammad ibn Zayd ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb, a trustworthy narrator cited by the two Shaykhs, from whom Ibn Wahb and others report. His father, Muḥammad ibn Zayd, is likewise reliable; he transmitted from the four ʿAbdallāhs—his grandfather ʿAbd Allāh [ibn ʿUmar], Ibn ʿAmr, Ibn ʿAbbās, and Ibn al-Zubayr—as well as from Saʿīd ibn Zayd ibn ʿAmr. All of these men died after the year 50 AH, whereas Abū Dharr died in 32 AH, so I do not think he ever heard from him.
