“Weak in retention.”
It has another supporting narration from Anas ibn Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, whose documentation was given earlier in the third volume, no. 1407.
Note: Regarding the wording, “Have you decomposed?” Al-Harbi said: “This is how the hadith scholars pronounce it, but I do not know the basis for it. The correct wording is: ‘when you have become decayed,’ that is, when you have become reduced to decayed bones, as Allah Most High says: ‘Who will give life to the bones when they have decayed?’” See my annotation to Sahih al-Targhib wa-al-Tarhib (1/293).
1528 — “Frequently say, ‘There is no might or power except through Allah,’ for it is a treasure from among the treasures of Paradise.”
Ahmad recorded it (2/333): Yahya ibn Yazid ibn Abd al-Malik—[the original reads: from Abd al-Malik]—narrated to us from his father, from Saʿid ibn Abi Saʿid, from Abu Hurayrah, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said ... and he mentioned it.
I say: This is a weak chain of transmission because of the weakness of Yahya ibn Yazid and his father, who is al-Nawfali.
However, the hadith is authentic, for it has another route and supporting narrations. As for the other route, al-Tirmidhi recorded it (2/280) by way of Makhul, from Abu Hurayrah, with the same wording. He said: “Its chain is not continuous, for Makhul did not hear from Abu Hurayrah.” As for its supporting narrations, one is from Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, recorded by Ahmad and others and authenticated by Ibn Hibban (2338), and another is from Abdullah ibn Umar. Both were documented under the previously mentioned hadith of Ibn Masʿud, no. 105. Al-Suyuti attributed this hadith only to Ibn Adi, from Abu Hurayrah—and al-Manawi endorsed him!
Note: In his two compendia, al-Suyuti mentions a supporting narration from Jabir with the wording: “Frequently say
