I say: Its chain of transmission is authentic. Al-Tayalisi (2256) records its final clause as: “The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, instructed him to recite the Quran in five days.” In al-Jami, al-Suyuti attributed it only to al-Tabarani, thus falling short; and he compounded this shortcoming by marking it as weak, as al-Manawi observed—then himself endorsed!
1514 — “Recite the protective surahs after every prayer.”
Abu Dawud (1523), Ibn Hibban (2347), and Ahmad (4/159) recorded it through Hunayn ibn Abi Hakim, from Ali ibn Rabah, from Uqbah ibn Amir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said this.
I say: This is a good chain of transmission. All its narrators are trustworthy except this Hunayn. Ibn Hibban mentioned him in al-Thiqat, a number of scholars narrated from him, and al-Hafiz said in al-Taqrib: “Truthful.” Yazid ibn Muhammad al-Qurashi also corroborated him in narrating it from Ali ibn Rabah. Ahmad (4/155) recorded it through Yazid ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Ruayni and Abu Marhum, from him.
I say: This is an authentic chain through both routes from Yazid, who is trustworthy and one of al-Bukhari’s narrators.
1515 — “The condition of this community will remain sound—or nearly sound—so long as they do not discuss children and divine decree.”
Ibn Hibban (1824) and al-Hakim (1/33) recorded it through several routes from Jarir ibn Hazim, who said: I heard Abu Raja al-Ataridi say: I heard Ibn Abbas, while he was on the pulpit, say: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said this. And he said:
