“If you do not know, that is a calamity; and if you do know, the calamity is greater.”
This man and others like him among the blind adherents are most vehement in condemning the believing youth for no reason other than that they follow the authentic sunnah and do not bind themselves to a particular legal school to imitate—as is required by the Quran, the sunnah, and adherence to the way of the Four Imams and others. Claiming that these young people are not scholars, they insist that they must imitate a legal school, yet forget themselves when they write on hadith studies, in which they are more ignorant than those Sunnis are of their traditional jurisprudence! They never realise at all that they are wreaking havoc upon the second of the two primary sources of the Shariah—the pure sunnah—and thereby expose themselves to the warning against lying about the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, whether deliberately or out of ignorance. Thus, at the very least, the Prophet’s saying applies to them: “Whoever relates from me a hadith which is deemed—that is, by hadith scholars—to be a lie is one of the two liars.” Muslim and others narrated it.
The first hadith that he falsely attributed to al-Tirmidhi is itself unauthentic, as al-Bukhari, the imam of hadith scholars, stated, for it is narrated by Nahshal ibn Sa'id, who is a liar, as Imam Ibn Rahawayh and, before him, al-Tayalisi stated. It also contains another severely weak narrator. I have documented it in my other book, The Weak Hadiths (2416).
Earlier, I mentioned that a charitable view of him requires us to conclude that the documentation of those hadiths was not his own. Yet, owing to the depth of his ignorance, the man does not allow me to maintain that conclusion. I found that, in the body of his aforementioned booklet, he committed other lies exactly like those, in addition to other errors which I must clarify by way of sincere counsel and warning.
- On p. 67, he cited the hadith: “...and I have instituted its night prayer for you,” and said:
