(6/104) [and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih (2141, Mawarid al-Zam'an)] ...” 12/19: “... in al-Tabaqat (2/238) [and Ibn Jarir al-Tabari in Tahdhib al-Athar (Musnad Ibn Abbas, 1/260, nos. 433 and 498), and Ibn Hibban in his Sahih (2142, Mawarid al-Zam'an)] ...” 14/21: [I said: I later found two corroborating transmitters for Ibn Khalid al-Zanji: The first was an unnamed Medinan shaykh, from al-Ala ibn Abd al-Rahman, with the same report. Al-Tirmidhi recorded it (3256) and said: “This is a gharib hadith, and its chain of transmission is subject to criticism.” I said: This is because the Medinan shaykh is unidentified, as he was not named. He cannot be al-Zanji, since the latter was Meccan. It appears that he was Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad, for al-Hakim recorded it (2/458) through Said ibn Mansur: “Abd al-Aziz ibn Muhammad narrated to us; al-Ala ibn Abd al-Rahman narrated to us,” with the same report. He said: “Authentic according to Muslim’s criteria,” and al-Dhahabi agreed. I said: This Abd al-Aziz was al-Darawardi al-Madani. Thus, and Allah knows best, he was the unnamed shaykh in al-Tirmidhi’s report, and he is trustworthy. The other was Abdullah ibn Jafar ibn Najih, from al-Ala, with the same report. Al-Tirmidhi also recorded it (3257). I said: Thus, in light of these corroborating reports, the hadith is authentic. And Allah knows best.] 26/18: “...
