1466 — “Feed people food and spread greetings of peace, and you will inherit the Gardens.”
Al-Maqdisī narrated it in al-Mukhtārah (135/1), from al-Ṭabarānī: Muḥammad ibn Muʿādh al-Ḥalabī narrated to us; Mūsā ibn Ismāʿīl narrated to us; al-Rabīʿ ibn Muslim narrated to us, from Muḥammad ibn Ziyād, who said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Ḥārith would pass by us and say this, attributing it to the Prophet.
I say: This is a chain of transmission whose narrators are trustworthy and among the narrators of Muslim, apart from Muḥammad ibn Muʿādh al-Ḥalabī. Apparently, he is the Damascene whose biography al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn ʿAsākir recorded in The History of Damascus (16/4/2–5/1), through reports from a number of trustworthy authorities. He noted that he was among those qualified to issue legal opinions in Damascus, and that Abū Ḥātim said: “I do not know him.” He died in 215 AH. The hadith also has a corroborating report from Abū Hurayrah, attributed to the Prophet with the same wording, containing an addition for which reason I cited it in the other book (1324).

Abū Nuʿaym narrated it in Akhbār Iṣbahān (2/263), as did al-Daylamī (1/1/118), Ibn ʿAsākir (19/219/2), and al-Ḥāfiẓ ʿAbd al-Ghanī in his documentation of the hadith (73/40/1), from Muʾammal ibn Ismāʿīl, who narrated to us from Sufyān al-Thawrī, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Iṣbahānī, from Abū Ḥāzim, from Abū Hurayrah, attributed to the Prophet.
I say: This is a chain of transmission whose narrators are trustworthy and among the narrators of al-Bukhārī and Muslim, apart from Muʾammal ibn Ismāʿīl, who was truthful but poor in retention, as stated in al-Taqrīb. Yaḥyā al-Qaṭṭān contradicted him, narrating it from Sufyān as a report attributed to the Companion Abū Hurayrah. Ibn ʿAsākir narrated it through the route of Musaddad ibn Musarhad: Yaḥyā narrated to us in this manner. It is therefore
