“Not every drop of semen results in a child; and when Allah wills to create something, nothing can prevent it.”
Al-Tayalisi also narrated it (2193) through ʿUmarah al-ʿAbdi, from Abu Saʿid, with similar wording: “If Allah, exalted is He, decrees something, it will surely come to be, even if coitus interruptus is practiced.” Abu Saʿid said: “I practiced coitus interruptus with a slave woman I owned, yet she gave birth to the dearest person to me: this boy.” But this ʿUmarah—namely, Ibn Juwayn, Abu Harun—is abandoned.
1463 — “Make marriage public, make marriage public. This is marriage, not illicit intercourse.”
Ibn Mandah narrated it in al-Maʿrifah (2/218/2), with an authentic chain from Yunus ibn Bukayr: Muhammad ibn ʿUbayd Allah informed us, from ʿAbd Allah ibn Abi ʿAbd Allah ibn Hibar ibn al-Aswad, from his father, from his grandfather, that he married off one of his daughters, and they had a kabar and gharabil among them. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, came out and heard the sound. He asked, “What is this?” It was said, “Hibar has married off his daughter.” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then said the hadith. He said: “I asked, ‘What is a kabar?’ He replied, ‘A large drum; and gharabil are cymbals.’”
He then narrated it, in abridged form, through Abu Maʿshar, from Yahya ibn ʿAbd Allah ibn Hibar, from his father, from his grandfather. It makes no mention of the kabar or the gharabil.
I say: This chain is weak and contains unknown narrators. I have found no biographical notice for ʿAbd Allah ibn Hibar or for his son Yahya. Abu Maʿshar, whose name was Najih, is weak. Al-Tabarani also narrated it through his route in the biographical entry on Hibar in al-Isabah. In the first route is Muhammad ibn ʿUbayd Allah, who is al-ʿArzami and is abandoned. Al-Tabarani also narrated it through his route, as stated in al-Majmaʿ (4/290). I have likewise found no biographical notice for ʿAbd Allah ibn Abi ʿAbd Allah ibn Hibar. Al-Hasan ibn Sufyan also included it through his route in his Musnad, as cited in al-Isabah, and said after this report and the one preceding it:
