Silsilat al-Ahadith al-SahihahNasir al-Din al-Albani

Muhammad ibn ʿAjlan also narrated it from Saʿid ibn Abi Saʿid al-Maqburi, with the same chain, except that he said: “from an evil neighbor in a settled residence, for a nomadic neighbor moves away from you.” Al-Nasaʾi (2/319) and al-Hakim also narrated it, though al-Hakim presented it as part of the Prophet’s practice, with the wording: “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say in his supplication: ‘O Allah, I seek refuge in You from an evil neighbor …’”—the hadith. He said: “Authentic according to Muslim’s criteria,” and al-Dhahabi agreed with him. I say: Rather, it is only good. Al-Bukhari likewise narrated it in al-Adab al-Mufrad (117), as did Ibn Hibban (2056).

It has a corroborating report from ʿUqbah ibn ʿAmir, who said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: ‘O Allah, I seek refuge in You from an evil day, an evil night, an evil hour, an evil companion, and an evil neighbor in a settled residence.’” Al-Haythami said in Majmaʿ al-Zawaʾid (10/144): “Al-Tabarani narrated it, and all its narrators are narrators of the Sahih collections except Bishr ibn Thabit al-Bazzar, who is trustworthy.”

1444 — “Seek refuge in Allah from the punishment of the grave.” She said: “I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, are they truly punished in their graves?’ He said, ‘Yes—a punishment that the beasts can hear.’”

Ibn Hibban (787) and Ahmad (6/362) narrated it through Abu Muʿawiyah, who said: Al-Aʿmash narrated to us, from Abu Sufyan, from Jabir, from Umm Mubashshir, who said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came in to me while I was in one of the walled gardens of Banu al-Najjar, in which there were graves of some of them who had died during the Age of Ignorance. He heard them while they were being punished, then he left, saying …”—then she mentioned it.
