that they will obey Him. He will then send them a messenger, commanding them: ‘Enter the Fire.’ He said: ‘By Him in whose hand is my soul, if they entered it, it would be coolness and safety for them.’
Al-Tabarani narrated it (79/2) through an authentic chain from Qatadah, from al-Ahnaf ibn Qays, from al-Aswad ibn Sari', as a report attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Through al-Tabarani’s route and Ahmad’s, al-Diya' narrated it in al-Mukhtarah (1/463). It is also found in Ahmad’s Musnad (4/24) and Sahih Ibn Hibban (1827), through this route, except that Ibn Hibban omitted Qatadah’s name. It is also in the Musnad from Abu Hurayrah. Likewise, Ibn Abi Asim narrated it in al-Sunnah (355, in the Maktab copy), through two routes from Abu Rafi', from Abu Hurayrah, as a report attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with the same wording, except that he said at its end: ‘Whoever enters it, it will be coolness and safety for him; and whoever does not enter it will be dragged into it.’ Its chain is authentic, as is the one before it.
I also found another corroborating report through Atiyyah, from Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, as a report attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with similar wording. Al-Baghawi narrated it in Hadith Ibn al-Ja'd (94/1). Al-Daylami also narrated it (1/1/171) through Qatadah, from al-Hasan, from al-Aswad ibn Murabba', with the same wording. Abu Sa'id’s report mentions the newborn in place of the deaf man. It is corroborated by reports from Anas and Mu'adh, whose documentation will come under hadith 2468.
1435 — ‘Uthman is in Paradise.’
Ibn Asakir narrated it (11/101/1) from Ismail ibn Yahya ibn Ubayd Allah al-Taymi, from Ibn Jurayj, from Ata, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, as a report attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
I say: This al-Taymi is a liar. However, the hadith is authentic, for it has many corroborating reports, the best known of which is the report of Sa'id ibn Zayd, may Allah be pleased with him, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with the wording:
