The first is from Jābir, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it in similar terms. Abū al-Shaykh narrated it in Ṭabaqāt al-Aṣbahāniyyīn (86/1 and 91/2) through Muḥammad ibn Dīnār, from Dāwūd ibn Abī Hind, from al-Shaʿbī, from him.
I say: This chain of transmission is good as corroborating evidence. Its narrators are trustworthy narrators of Muslim, apart from Muḥammad ibn Dīnār, al-Azdī al-Ṭāmī. Al-Ḥāfiẓ said: “Truthful, but poor in retention.”
The other is from ʿĀʾishah, who said to Fāṭimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: “Shall I not give you glad tidings? I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say…” He mentioned it with the wording: “The leading women of the people of Paradise are four…” and named them. Al-Ḥākim narrated it (3/185) and said: “Authentic according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs.” Al-Dhahabī agreed with him, and it is as they said.
1425 — “If one of you takes charge of shrouding his brother, let him prepare his shroud well, for they will be resurrected in their shrouds and visit one another in their shrouds.”
Al-Khaṭīb narrated it in al-Tārīkh (9/80) through Saʿīd ibn Salām al-ʿAṭṭār, who said: Abū Maysarah narrated to us from Qatādah, from Anas, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it.
I say: This chain of transmission is utterly unsound. Ibn Numayr declared this Saʿīd ibn Salām a liar, and al-Bukhārī said: “He is mentioned in connection with fabricating hadith.” Others also declared him weak. Al-ʿUjaylī alone differed, saying: “There is no harm in him.” I have not identified Abū Maysarah. Shuʿbah contradicted him, narrating it from Qatādah with the same wording but without the statement: “For they will be resurrected…” Al-Khaṭīb also narrated it (4/160). This portion of the hadith is unquestionably authentic and has been documented in al-Janāʾiz (p. 58), so let us consider the rest of it.
