And in Al-Ḍuʿafāʾ he said: “A truthful narrator, though he has some weakness.” The hadith has a corroborating report from Abū Umāmah, attributed to the Prophet, with similar wording. Ibn al-Sunnī and others recorded it, and al-Ḥākim declared it authentic; however, its chain of transmission is very weak, as I have explained in Takhrīj al-Targhīb (1/116). Thus, taken together with all its chains, the hadith is authentic.
1414 — “If one of you breaks wind while praying, let him leave and perform ablution.”
Al-Ṭabarānī recorded it in Al-Awsaṭ (24/1–2 in its arrangement), through Ibrāhīm ibn Rāshid al-Ādamī: Muḥammad ibn Bilāl al-Baṣrī narrated to us; ʿImrān al-Qaṭṭān narrated to us, from Hishām ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from Ibn ʿUmar, attributed to the Prophet. Al-Ṭabarānī said: “No one narrated it from ʿImrān except Muḥammad ibn Bilāl.”
I say: He is truthful, as stated in Al-Taqrīb. The same applies to al-Ādamī, while ʿImrān al-Qaṭṭān’s hadith is good. The hadith also has a corroborating report from ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, attributed to the Prophet, with similar wording. Aḥmad recorded it (1/88 and 99), and its chain includes Ibn Lahīʿah, who had poor retention.
1415 — “If one of you feels pain, let him place his hand where he feels the pain, then say seven times: ‘I seek refuge in Allah’s might and His power over all things from the evil of what I feel.’”
Aḥmad (6/390) and al-Kharāʾiṭī, in Makārim al-Akhlāq (p. 88), recorded it through Abū Maʿshar, from Yazīd ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Khuṣayfah, from ʿAmr ibn Kaʿb ibn Mālik, from his father, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it.
I say: This is a weak chain of transmission. Abū Maʿshar was Nujayḥ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sindī.
