And this Ibrahim is Ibn Yahya al-Aslami, who is abandoned. It has a corroborating narration from Umar, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with a weak chain of transmission, which al-Sakhawi mentioned in al-Qawl al-Badiʿ (p. 120, Hind edition). Ibn Abi Hatim cited it in al-ʿIlal (1/205) through Saʿid ibn Bashir, from Qatadah, from Anas, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with the same wording but without the phrase, “and the night before Friday . . .” He said: “My father said: This is a rejected hadith with this chain of transmission.” In sum, the hadith through these routes is good, at the very least; and it is authentic without the mention of the night before Friday. See Takhrij Mishkat al-Masabih (1361).
1408 — “When a man’s child dies, Allah says to His angels: ‘Have you taken the child of My servant?’ They reply: ‘Yes.’ He says: ‘Have you taken the fruit of his heart?’ They reply: ‘Yes.’ He says: ‘And what did My servant say?’ They say: ‘He praised You and said: To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return.’ He says: ‘Build for My servant a house in Paradise, and name it the House of Praise.’”
Al-Thaqafi related it in al-Thaqafiyyat (3/15/2), from ʿAbd al-Hakam ibn Maysarah al-Harithi Abu Yahya, who said: Sufyan narrated to us, from ʿAlqamah ibn Marthad, from Abu Burdah, from Abu Musa al-Ashʿari, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He said: “This is a singular narration from al-Thawri’s reports; I know it only through this route. Al-Dahhak ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn ʿArzab and others also narrated it from Abu Musa.”
I say: Al-Tirmidhi (1/190), Nuʿaym ibn Hammad in Zawaʾid al-Zuhd (108), and Ibn Hibban (726) also related it with a connected chain, through Hammad ibn Salamah, from Abu Sinan, who said: “I buried my son Sinan while Abu Talhah al-Khawlani was sitting at the edge of the grave. When I was about to leave, he took hold of my hand and said: ‘Shall I not give you glad tidings, Abu Sinan?’ I said: ‘Certainly.’ He said: ‘Al-Dahhak ibn ʿAbd al-Rahman told me, from Abu Musa al-Ashʿari, who attributed this report to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.’” Al-Tirmidhi said: “A good, singular hadith.”
