who said: Abdullah ibn سعيد al-Kindi al-Ashajj informed us; Abu Mu'awiyah informed us, from Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, from Aishah, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
I say: This is a good chain of transmission.
1407 — “Send abundant blessings upon me on Friday and the night before Friday. Whoever invokes one blessing upon me, Allah blesses him tenfold.”
Al-Bayhaqi related it in his Sunan (3/249), from Abd al-Rahman ibn Salam, who said: Ibrahim ibn Tahman informed us, from Abu Ishaq, from Anas, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Al-Dhahabi said in his Abridgement (1/147/2): “Its chain is acceptable.”
I say: No; for Abu Ishaq—al-Subay'i—had become confused in his later years. Furthermore, he practised tadlis and related it using the ambiguous “from” formula.
It has another route, narrated by Durust ibn Ziyad al-Qushayri, from Yazid al-Raqqashi, from Anas, attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, with the wording: “Send abundant blessings upon me on Friday and the night before Friday. Whoever does so, I shall be a witness or an intercessor for him on the Day of Resurrection.” Ibn Adi related it (129/2) in the biography of this Durust and said: “I hope that there is no harm in him.” Al-Hafiz said in al-Taqrib: “Weak.”
I say: Al-Raqqashi is weak as well. Al-Bayhaqi also related it through this route in al-Shu'ab, as cited by al-Manawi.
It was also related in an abbreviated mursal form with the wording: “When Friday and the night before Friday come, send abundant blessings upon me.” Al-Shafi'i related it (no. 431): Ibrahim ibn Muhammad informed us; Safwan ibn Sulaym informed me that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it.
