1397 — “There are three whom Allah will not look upon on the Day of Resurrection: one who is undutiful to his parents, a habitual drinker of wine, and one who reminds others of his gifts. And there are three who will not enter Paradise: one who is undutiful to his parents, a man who condones sexual immorality among his family, and a woman who imitates men.”
Al-Bazzar narrated it in his Musnad (1875), saying: Al-Hasan ibn Yahya al-Arzi narrated to us; Muhammad ibn Bilal narrated to us; Imran al-Qattan narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Amr, from Salim, from his father, in a report attributed to the Prophet.
I say: This is a good chain of transmission. Its narrators are trustworthy and are among those covered in al-Tahdhib; some of them have been criticized, but this does not impair the report. It was corroborated by Abdullah ibn Yasar, the client of Ibn Umar, from Salim, with the same wording. Al-Bazzar (1876) and others narrated it. Al-Hakim and al-Dhahabi declared it authentic, and it is documented in Hijab al-Mar’ah (p. 67).
1398 — “When a servant stands for prayer, all his sins are brought and placed upon his shoulders; then, whenever he bows or prostrates, they fall away from him.”
Muhammad ibn Nasr narrated it in al-Salah (64/2) and Qiyam al-Layl (p. 52), and Abu Nuaym in al-Hilyah (6/99–100), through Thawr ibn Yazid, from Abu al-Munib, who said: “Ibn Umar saw a young man who had prolonged his prayer excessively, and he said, ‘Which of you knows this man?’ A man replied, ‘I know him.’ He said, ‘Had I known him, I would have instructed him to increase his bowing and prostration, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say...’” He then mentioned the hadith.
I say: This is an authentic chain of transmission; all its narrators are trustworthy. Abu al-Munib was al-Jurashi of Damascus, not Abu al-Munib al-Ahdab of Basra. It was also corroborated by Jubayr ibn Nufayr: Abdullah ibn Umar saw a young man ... the hadith. Ibn Nasr narrated it (65/1) through Abu Salih, who narrated to us from Muawiyah ibn Salih, from al-Ala ibn al-Harith, from Zayd ibn Artah, from him.
