94 – “Whoever swears by the trust (al-amānah) is not one of us.”
Abū Dāwūd narrated it (3253): “Aḥmad ibn Yūnus told us; Zuhayr told us; al-Walīd ibn Thaʿlabah al-Ṭāʾī, from Ibn Buraydah, from his father, reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said….”
I say: The isnād is sound; every one of its transmitters is trustworthy. There are two narrators known as Ibn Buraydah—ʿAbd Allāh and Sulaymān—and the first is more reliable; both al-Bukhārī and Muslim relied upon him. Zuhayr is Ibn Muʿāwiyah Abū Khaythamah al-Kūfī, a trustworthy reporter likewise accepted by the two Shaykhs. The same applies to Aḥmad ibn Yūnus—his father’s name is ʿAbd Allāh ibn Yūnus. As for al-Walīd ibn Thaʿlabah, he was declared reliable by Ibn Maʿīn and Ibn Ḥibbān, and Ibn Ḥibbān included this very ḥadīth in his Ṣaḥīḥ (1318).
