1258 — “When you feel pain, place your hand where it hurts and say: ‘In the name of Allah (and by Allah), I seek refuge in Allah’s might and power from the harm of the pain I feel.’ Then lift your hand and repeat this an odd number of times.”
Al-Tirmidhi (2/278), al-Hakim (4/219), and al-Diyaʾ in al-Mukhtarah (fol. 51/1) narrated it from Muhammad ibn Salim, who said: Thabit al-Bunani narrated to us. He said to me, “O Muhammad”—and then mentioned it—“for Anas ibn Malik told me that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, told him this.”
Al-Tirmidhi said: “It is a good, singular hadith, and Muhammad ibn Salim is a Basran shaykh.”
I say: Al-Diyaʾ said: “Abu Hatim was asked about him and said: ‘There is no harm in him.’” Ibn Hibban included him in The Trustworthy Narrators (2/267). Thus, the hadith has an authentic chain of transmission, as al-Hakim likewise said, and al-Dhahabi agreed with him.
1259 — “When the prayer is about to begin, perform circumambulation while mounted on your camel, behind the people.”
Al-Nasaʾi (2/37) narrated it through ʿAbdah, from Hisham ibn ʿUrwah, from his father, from Umm Salamah, who said: “O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I have not performed the circumambulation before departure.” The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, then said this.
Al-Nasaʾi said: “ʿUrwah did not hear it from Umm Salamah.” He and al-Bukhari (1/410) then narrated it through Malik; and it is found in al-Muwattaʾ (1/370–371), from Abu al-Aswad, from ʿUrwah, from Zaynab bint Umm Salamah, from Umm Salamah, in a similar wording.
