It was also recorded by Abū Saʿd al-Muẓaffar ibn al-Ḥasan in Selected Benefits (f. 132/1), through Sufyān ibn Ḥusayn, from al-Zuhrī, from ʿUrwah, from ʿĀʾishah, attributed to the Prophet, with the wording cited in the heading, but without the words, “and repent to Him.” Sufyān ibn Ḥusayn was a trustworthy narrator used by the two Shaykhs, but they deemed his narrations from al-Zuhrī weak; therefore, neither of them narrated anything from him on al-Zuhrī’s authority. This proves that the Prophet’s wives, peace and blessings be upon him, were not infallible, contrary to some followers of heretical inclinations.
1209 — “Indeed, the angel on the left withholds the pen from the erring or wrongdoing Muslim servant for six hours. If he feels remorse and seeks Allah’s forgiveness for it, he casts it aside; otherwise, he records one sin.”
It was recorded by al-Ṭabarānī in al-Kabīr (f. 25/2, collection 6), Abū Nuʿaym in al-Ḥilyah (6/124), al-Bayhaqī in al-Shuʿab (2/349/1), and al-Wāḥidī in his exegesis (4/85/1), through Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh, from ʿĀṣim ibn Rajāʾ ibn Ḥaywah, from ʿUrwah ibn Ruwaym, from al-Qāsim, from Abū Umāmah, attributed to the Prophet. Abū Nuʿaym said: “It is a singular report from the hadith of ʿĀṣim and ʿUrwah; we have recorded it only through the narration of Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAyyāsh.”
I say: He is trustworthy in his narrations from Syrians, and this is one of them, for ʿĀṣim was Palestinian, and those above him in the chain are trustworthy. There is some criticism concerning ʿĀṣim and al-Qāsim—who is Ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, the companion of Abū Umāmah—but it does not lower their hadith below the rank of good. Al-Haythamī said (10/208): “Al-Ṭabarānī narrated it through several chains, and the narrators of one of them were declared trustworthy.”
1210 — “Before long, O Muʿādh, if you live a long life, you will see this place filled with gardens.” That is, Tabūk.
It was recorded by Mālik (1/143–144), and from him by Muslim (7/60–61) and Aḥmad
