Al-ʿUqaylī recorded it (464) through Yaḥyā ibn Ṣāliḥ al-Aylī, from Ismāʿīl ibn Umayyah, from Ibn ʿAbbās. Al-Ṭabarānī likewise recorded it (3/21/1), as did al-Ḍiyāʾ from him (63/14/1), except that he said, “Ibn Jurayj,” in place of Ismāʿīl ibn Umayyah. This al-Aylī has objectionable reports. He has two further corroborating narrations, which I mentioned under the preceding hadith with the wording, “Perform Hajj regularly” (1185).
2 — As for the hadith of Ibn Masʿūd, ʿĀṣim narrates it from Shaqīq, from him, as a Prophetic report, adding: “and gold and silver; and there is no reward for an accepted Hajj except Paradise.” It was recorded by al-Tirmidhī (1/155), al-Nasāʾī, and Aḥmad (1/387); by Ibn Ḥibbān from him (967); by al-Ṭabarī in al-Tafsīr (vol. 4, no. 3956); by al-Ṭabarānī (3/76/2); by al-ʿUqaylī (p. 157); by Abū Nuʿaym in al-Ḥilyah (4/110); and by al-Baghawī in Sharḥ al-Sunnah (2/112/1). Both he and al-Tirmidhī said: “A good, authentic, singular hadith.”
I say: Its chain of transmission is good, for ʿĀṣim—who is Ibn Bahdalah, Abū al-Najūd—has some weakness in his retention. Ibn Khuzaymah also narrated it from him in his Ṣaḥīḥ (1/253/1).
3 — As for the hadith of Ibn ʿUmar, it has three routes from him:
The first: from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār, from him. Its chain includes the weak Ḥajjāj ibn Nuṣayr, as mentioned shortly before.
The second: from Salamah ibn ʿAbd al-Malik al-ʿAwṣī, from Ibrāhīm ibn Yazīd, from ʿAbdah ibn Abī Lubābah, who said: I heard Ibn ʿUmar say—and he mentioned it. It was recorded by Abū Saʿīd ibn al-Aʿrābī in his Muʿjam (folio 14/2), and by Ibn ʿAsākir (2/285/2). This is a very weak chain of transmission. This Ibrāhīm is al-Khūzī, an abandoned narrator. As for al-ʿAwṣī, he is truthful, though he contradicts others, as stated in al-Taqrīb.
The third: from ʿUthmān ibn Saʿīd al-Ṣaydāwī: Sulaymān ibn Ṣulḥ narrated to us; Ibn Thawbān narrated to me, from Manṣūr ibn al-Muʿtamir, from al-Shaʿbī, from Ibn ʿUmar, as a Prophetic report with the same wording, except that he said: “For observing the two in close succession increases one’s lifespan and provision.”
