The hadith also has another, abridged chain from ʿĀʾishah, with the wording: “Indeed, Allah supports ...” It has already preceded.
It also has a corroborating report with the wording: “The Holy Spirit is with you so long as you satirize them.” Al-Ḥākim related it (3/487) through ʿĪsā ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, who said: ʿAdī ibn Thābit narrated to us, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said this to Ḥassān ibn Thābit. He then cited it. Al-Ḥākim said: “Authentic.” Al-Dhahabī concurred, and it is as they said. It has also been narrated by transmitters other than ʿĪsā, from ʿAdī and others, with the wording: “Satirize the polytheists,” as will follow.
- “Allah, mighty and majestic, admitted into Paradise a man who was easygoing in buying, selling, paying what he owed, and claiming what was due to him.”
Al-Bukhārī related it in al-Tārīkh al-Kabīr (3/2/267), as did al-Nasāʾī (2/234), Ibn Mājah (2/20–21), Aḥmad (1/58, 67, and 70), and al-Kharāʾiṭī in Makārim al-Akhlāq (p. 54), through ʿAṭāʾ ibn Farūkh, from ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān, may Allah be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said this.
I say: Its narrators are trustworthy and are among those whose narrations were used by al-Bukhārī and Muslim, apart from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Farūkh, whom Ibn Ḥibbān alone declared trustworthy. Two people narrated from him. ʿAlī ibn al-Madīnī mentioned in al-ʿIlal that he did not meet ʿUthmān, may Allah be pleased with him. Al-Būṣīrī therefore deemed it defective on account of the break in its chain in al-Zawāʾid (136/2).
Al-Ṭayālisī also related it in his Musnad (1/262/1307): Shuʿbah narrated to us, from ʿAmr ibn Dīnār, from a man, from ʿUthmān, with this wording. It is also a narration of Aḥmad. Perhaps this man was Ibn Farūkh himself. However, the hadith has a corroborating report with the wording: “May Allah forgive a man from among those before you who was easygoing when he sold, easygoing when he bought, and easygoing when claiming what was due to him.”
