As for the hadith of Ibn ʿAbbās, it is narrated by Abū Muslim, the founder of the dynasty, from Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās, from his father, from his grandfather, ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbbās. It was recorded by Tammām in al-Fawāʾid (no. 1029) and by Abū Nuʿaym in Tārīkh Iṣbahān (2/109). No narrator criticism or accreditation has been recorded concerning this Abū Muslim.

“Give one sāʿ (a standard measure) of food.”
It was recorded by al-Bayhaqī (4/167) and Abū Nuʿaym in al-Ḥilyah (3/12 and 6/262), through the route of ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Jarrāḥ, who said: Ḥammād ibn Zayd narrated to us from Ayyūb, from Abū Rajāʾ al-ʿAṭṭāridī, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it. Abū Nuʿaym said: “It is singular among the narrations of Ḥammād and Ayyūb, and I know of no transmitter of it other than ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Jarrāḥ.”
I say: He is truthful, as Abū Zurʿah stated, while al-Nasāʾī said: “Trustworthy.” Ibn Ḥibbān included him among the trustworthy narrators and said: “His hadiths are sound.” As for Abū Ḥātim, he said: “He made many errors, though his standing is that of a truthful narrator.”
I say: Thus, his hadith is good, Allah willing.
Note: What is meant by “food” here is anything other than wheat, since half a sāʿ suffices in the case of wheat, on account of the previously cited hadith of ʿAbd Allāh ibn Thaʿlabah ibn Abī Ṣuʿayr (1177), which reads: “Give one sāʿ of burr wheat or wheat for every two persons ...” This is attested by several hadiths, including the hadith of ʿAmr ibn Shuʿayb, from his father, from his grandfather, attributed to the Prophet: “... two mudd of wheat, or one sāʿ of any other food.” Al-Dāraquṭnī recorded it (220 and 221) through two routes from Ibn Jurayj, from him. Another is the hadith of Aws ibn al-Ḥadathān, attributed to the Prophet, which reads: “Give the alms of the Fast: one sāʿ of food.” However, its chain of transmission is very weak, and it contains a rejected addition; I therefore included it in my other book (2116).
