Ahmad recorded it (6/294): Wakiʿ narrated to us; he said: ʿAbd Allah ibn Saʿid narrated to me.
I say: All the narrators in this chain are trustworthy and are among the narrators of the two Shaykhs; thus, it is authentic if Saʿid—namely, Ibn Abi Hind—heard it from ʿAʾishah or Umm Salamah. However, I am not confident of this, since they did not mention that he heard from either of them. There were approximately fifty-four years between his death and that of Umm Salamah, and approximately fifty-eight years between his death and that of ʿAʾishah. And Allah knows best.
Al-Tabarani also recorded from ʿAʾishah a similar report, worded: “O ʿAʾishah, Gabriel informed me that my son Husayn will be killed in the land of al-Taff ...”
Al-Haythami said (9/188): “It was narrated by al-Tabarani in al-Kabir and al-Awsat. The chain in al-Kabir contains Ibn Lahiʿah, while the chain in al-Awsat contains someone whom I do not know.”
4 — Al-Tabarani also recorded from Umm Salamah a similar report, worded: “Indeed, your community will kill this one in a land called Karbala. Gabriel then took some of its soil and showed it to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him ...” (See the addendum, no. 161/21.)
Al-Haythami said (9/189): “Al-Tabarani narrated it through several chains, and the narrators in one of them are trustworthy.” (See the addendum, no. 161/26.)
