1142 — “Aishah is my wife in Paradise.”
Ibn Saʿd narrated it (8/66) from Muslim al-Butayn, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said it.
I say: This chain consists of trustworthy narrators, all of whom are narrators of Muslim, except that it is mursal, since Muslim—namely, Ibn ʿImran al-Butayn—was among the younger Successors. Yet it is one of the authentic mursal reports, for it has numerous corroborating reports indicating this.
The first is from Aishah: the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, mentioned Fatimah, may Allah be pleased with her. She said: “So I spoke, and he said: ‘Would you not be pleased to be my wife in this world and the Hereafter?’ I said: ‘Certainly.’ He said: ‘Then you are my wife in this world and the Hereafter.’”
Al-Hakim narrated it (4/10) through Abu al-ʿAnbas Saʿid ibn Kathir, from his father, who said: Aishah narrated to us ... He said: “This Abu al-ʿAnbas is trustworthy, and the hadith is authentic.” Al-Dhahabi agreed with him.
I say: Abu Kathir ibn ʿUbayd al-Taymi was declared trustworthy by Ibn Hibban, and a number of narrators reported from him.
The second is also from her. She said: “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, which of your wives will be in Paradise?’ He said: ‘Indeed, you are among them.’”
Al-Hakim narrated it (4/13) through Yusuf ibn Yaʿqub al-Majishun: My father narrated to me from ʿAbd al-Rahman ibn Kaʿb ibn Malik, from her. He said: “The chain is authentic.” Al-Dhahabi agreed with him.
I say: It meets Muslim’s conditions. Ibn Saʿd also narrated it (8/65) through Usamah ibn Zayd al-Laythi, from Abu Salamah al-Majishun, from Abu Muhammad, the freedman of the Ghaffar clan, that Aishah said it in similar wording. This Abu Salamah is the father of the aforementioned Yaʿqub, and I have not found anyone who provided his biographical notice.
