I say: This is a weak chain of transmission because of Musa ibn Ubaydah. Abu Ya‘la also narrated it through him, as al-Busiri stated in al-Zawa’id (fol. 101/1).
Another supporting report is from Makhul, who related that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said this with wording like Fiṭr’s report. Al-Darimi narrated it, and all its narrators are trustworthy; thus, it is authentic were it not mursal.
Another is from Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Qasim ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr, who related that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Let the calamity of losing me console the Muslims in their calamities.” Al-Darimi narrated it from Malik (1/235); Ibn Sa‘d (2/275) and Ibn al-Mubarak in al-Zuhd (no. 467) also narrated it from him. This too is an authentic mursal report.
Another is from Abd al-Rahman ibn Sabit, in mursal form. Nu‘aym ibn Hammad narrated it in Zawa’id al-Zuhd, no. 271. In sum, the hadith is authentic in light of these supporting reports. And Allah knows best.
1107 — “You are not like me; the comfort of my eyes has been placed in prayer.”
Ibn Nasr narrated it in al-Salah (68/2): Yahya ibn Uthman narrated to us; Ḥaql narrated to us, from al-Awza‘i, from Ishaq ibn Abd Allah ibn Abi Talhah, from Anas: “The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, rose during the night, and a woman was praying along with his prayer. When he noticed her, he turned to her and said, ‘Lie down if you wish.’ She said, ‘I feel energetic.’ He said:” and then cited it. Al-Uqayli also narrated it through this route in the biographical entry on this Yahya ibn Uthman, who was al-Harbi, and said (265): “No one corroborates him in it.”
I say: Abu Zur‘ah declared him trustworthy, while Ibn Ma‘in said: “There is no harm in him.” Thus, the chain of transmission is good. Ibn Nasr then narrated it through Salam Abu al-Mundhir al-Qari, from Thabit al-Bunani, from Anas, with the same wording but with an addition at its beginning.
I say: This is a good chain of transmission. This Salam was Ibn Sulayman al-Muzani. Al-Hafiz said: “Truthful, but makes mistakes.” As for al-Uqayli’s statement following the hadith of al-Harbi—“This is narrated by Salam al-Tawil, from Thabit, from Anas, and Salam has some weakness”—
