1097 — “O people, be mindful of Allah, and do not let Satan lead you astray.” In another narration: “Use the words you normally use, and do not let Satan draw you on.” “I am Muhammad ibn Abdullah, Allah’s servant and His Messenger. By Allah, I do not wish you to raise me above the rank to which Allah, Most High, has assigned me.”
Imam Ahmad recorded it (3/153, 241, and 249), as did al-Bayhaqi in Dala’il al-Nubuwwah (Proofs of Prophethood) (3/113/2), through several routes from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Thabit, from Anas ibn Malik: A man said, “O Muhammad! O our master, son of our master; best of us, son of the best of us!” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, then spoke the foregoing words. The wording given here and the alternate version are from Ahmad; Ibn Hibban also recorded the latter (2118—Mawarid al-Zam’an).

It was also recorded by Abd ibn Humayd in al-Muntakhab min al-Musnad (Selections from the Musnad) (143/2), Ibn Mandah in al-Tawhid (Oneness of God) (folio 63/1), and al-Diya al-Maqdisi in al-Ahadith al-Mukhtarah (The Selected Hadiths) (26/1).
1098 — “Whoever neither faces the qiblah nor turns his back toward it while relieving himself will have a good deed recorded for him and a sin erased from him.”
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Awsat (1/32—the Islamic University facsimile). He said: Ahmad narrated to us; Ahmad ibn Harb al-Mawsili narrated to us; al-Qasim ibn Yazid al-Jarmi narrated to us, from Ibrahim ibn Tahman, from Husayn al-Muallim, from Yahya ibn Abi Kathir, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said ... He then cited it and said:
