and al-Darimi (2/105), Malik (2/77), and Ahmad (2/241), through the route of al-Zuhri, from al-A‘raj, from Abu Hurayrah, attributed to the Companion. Al-Zuhri also narrated it from Sa‘id ibn al-Musayyib, from Abu Hurayrah, likewise attributed to the Companion. Muslim, Ahmad (267, 405, and 494), and al-Tayalisi (p. 304, no. 2302) reported it. Talhah ibn Abi ‘Uthman also followed him in narrating it from Sa‘id, in Muslim’s collection, with an addition to it. I cited it in al-Da‘ifah (5043) because of that addition.
The hadith also has a supporting report with the wording: “The worst food is the food of the wedding feast: the rich are invited to it, while the poor are left out.” In al-Majma‘ (4/53), he said: “Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani, in al-Awsat and al-Kabir, reported it from Ibn ‘Abbas. Its chain contains Sa‘id ibn Suwayd al-Ma‘wali, for whom I could not find a biographical entry; and it contains ‘Imran al-Qattan, whom Ahmad and a number of others declared trustworthy, while al-Nasa’i and others deemed him weak. Its wording in al-Kabir is: ‘How evil is the food …’ The hadith is similar in meaning.” See also al-Irwa’ (2007).
1086 — “Whoever enters Paradise will enjoy bliss and never suffer misery; his garments will never wear out, and his youth will never fade.”
Muslim (8/148), al-Darimi (2/332), Ahmad (2/369, 407, 416, and 462), al-Husayn al-Marwazi in Zawa’id al-Zuhd (1456), Abu Nu‘aym in Sifat al-Jannah (16/2), and likewise al-Maqdisi in Sifat al-Jannah (3/83/2) reported it from Hammad ibn Salamah, from Thabit, from Abu Rafi‘, from Abu Hurayrah, attributed to the Prophet with this wording. Ahmad and others added: “In Paradise are things no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived.” This addition is not found in Muslim’s narration through this route, contrary to what is suggested by al-Mundhiri’s treatment in al-Targhib (4/261).
Abu Nu‘aym then reported it through the route of Ya‘qub ibn Humayd: al-Mughirah ibn ‘Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, from Ibn ‘Ajlan, from his father, from Abu Hurayrah, with this wording. He also reported it through the route of Abu Dawud: Zuhayr ibn Mu‘awiyah narrated to us, from Sa‘d al-Ta’i, who said: Abu al-Mudallah narrated to me that he heard Abu Hurayrah. Al-Tirmidhi and others reported it through this route, and Ibn Hibban authenticated it. See the documentation of al-Mishkat, 5630.
